Lightbulb Where do you have your company located?

    Hi,

I would like to set up my affiliate company. As you my know in some countries it is not possible to legally transfer money from an affiliate to a company. So here is my question for all of you, where do you have your company located, in which country (Malta, gibraltar, others)?

I already thank you in advance for all the answers.

UK for me as well. The main reason is because that's where I've lived all my life. You can probably get better tax regimes elsewhere but it's fair enough here. (Some may disagree.)

UK also, but again it's where I live. Relatively favourable esp with corp tax coming down. VAT is a pain though.

    @Brand
I run completely offshore (Marshall), but it makes sense for me because my current residence has no CFC rules and a territorial-based taxation system.

Yep, went down to 19% in 2017 and drops again to 17% in 2020.

CIT tax rate was decreased to 19% from 20% in 2017.

If you use Marshall Islands it may be worth to use UK LTD + offshore (i.e Marshall Islands). You can transfer up to 95% profits from UK company to offshore and pay just 1% of tax (20% from 5% of earnings).

Obviously it all depends where you live.

New affiliates do not need to register companies.

    - Get paid directly to your personal bank account; pay taxes on incoming payments.
    - Local company means double taxation.
    - Meaningless, unless you register it for protecting against tax; an offshore company would make more sense.

The percentage of affiliates who make $xx,xxx per month to consider tax as a problem, are in single digits.

New affiliates should not be thinking on these lines; nothing but bling.

I don't agree with you. If you have normal business with expenses, then always having company is a better option. Moreover - costs of limited company i.e in the UK are reasonable and affordable for almost every affiliate. Offshore companies are for higher earnings, but remember - you can always do tax optimisation.

Exactly. This is what was said above.

Majority of new affiliates do not belong to this category. Anyone making below 5 digits per month will only increase on costs unnecessarily with setting up local or offshore companies.

Many people want the sense of doing things the normal way; which is why they go for all these vanity setups.

Get clients, earn big money; then plan about these accessories.

This isn't correct. Tax needs to be considered by all, if they plan to run a legitimate business, and the level of earnings where it's worthwhile setting up a company is dependent on individual circumstances but may be of a much lower value than this.

For example, as a new affiliate you may have other earnings. This coupled with any affiliate earnings may immediately put you in a tax paying position. In this case you may wish to have a company to keep the expenditure for expansion or just as a way of minimizing personal tax and giving some control over when it falls due.

A tax accountant is probably best placed to recommend the best course of action if anyone is unsure.

Bulgaria. Easy enough set up, corporate tax 10%, income tax 10%.

If you live in the UK (so paying UK tax) the point at which it becomes more tax efficient to be a ltd company v self employed is pretty low - around ?0k per year. And that's taking into account accountants fees. Plenty of calculators out there and a chart here: https://i2.wp.com/jf-financial.co.uk...ng?w=719&ssl=1

Plus you have advanced tax planning, the ability to retain earnings, pay them to your spouse etc...

Forget Malta, i have a company for 6 yrs ... during the years it becomes more and more expensive. You pay easily 5k a year including accounting and you hope you get 6/7 from you 35% tax payment back. And than? If you get this payment (i heard about more often about problems with refund), you need to transfer it out of Malta.

Means you need an active (OECD rules) offshore company with bank account OR you take this money with your personal bank account. Than you have to pay personal income taxes. Its an endless payday for accountants and consultants.

There are lots of more useful structures out there. Bulgaria is quite nice, Romania, Cyprus, even UK.
BUT if you plan the long-run and with bigger numbers, there is no way around to relocated yourself (or better your permanent residence) to a low tax country without CFC rules.

If you want to stay at "home" or in one of the the "first world" countries, you have to pay the taxes.
My personal recommendation: World-Class Hosting with Kinsta.com

No, you'll need to be UKGC compliant for any UK traffic though.
