What is the impact of the main page on overall site ranking?

Hi Guys,

According to you, what is is the ranking impact of the main page in terms of content quality, speed and design?

Briefly, if you have a total of 200 pages + 300 posts website, what is the ranking factor of this 1 main page? is it 1/500? or 1/50 or more?

I think the answer to your question would be the former answer, which is 1/500.

I think the larger your site grows, the more important your main page (as well as main landing pages) become.

I think this is why sub pages should always have easily identified links back to home, and why the home page should have easily understood (and easily followed) links to all the main portions or sections of your site.

Hi Dear Rick,

I have tested it many times on my large and old sites especially.

And I totally agree with you as even small tweaks abıu SEO, Content or design make great effects on the rankings.

By saying "easily understood", did you mean the grammatical explanation or site structure?

And last but not the least, do you recommend minimum 1 text link inside the content of every sub-page pointing to the main page? (although we have a main page button on the main menu bar)

If the user doesn't understand your site structure, they will get frustrated and leave.

If Google's, and other responsible spiders, do not have a logical and easy to follow site link structure, they may fail to follow may not find and index all the pages within your site.

For an overall page, ranking content will be unique.Avoid duplicating content and write original copy for each page.

Sure this is the master key to success! But it is the first step! Media-rich and comprehensive content should also be published as well.

Yes, content really matters on site ranking. Unique content is always the requirements to boost a site ranking.
