    Default Website Software and Platforms

I was curious if there is someplace that lists the types of software being used by the various members For instance this is a great website/Forum and I would like to know what platform you are using.

After that maybe there is room to talk about the gaming software as well. I am betting that you have collected that information somewhere.

I am glad to have this opportunity to talk with webmasters because I am definitely a beginner. Even though I am a power computer user the webmaster thing is very new to me.

I suggest you try to join some top webmaster forum. They can always help you out about software and platform you can use for your new website, like directory/ blogging/ social bookmark site/ forum site. I think GPWA use a hybrid vbulletin platform.

The GPWA uses vBulliten and has customized it to the needs of the organization. As far as what software folks use, the list is endless. There are many options from coding your website, using an editor program like Dreamweaver, Content Management Systems (CMS)... Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal, Mambo, Nuke.... it really is endless.

Many newcomers start out with Wordpress as it is one of the easiest cms programs to learn. A lot is a matter of personal preference too. Like raphinx said, you could get involved in a webmaster forum that focuses on design and programs to build websites.

Have a long look around here and you will find a ton of information on what folks use.

Good luck in your new venture!

Most of my sites that market to niches use wordpress now, though I still have some Joomla and Drupal out there.

Have a copy of Dreamwevaer CS4 for videos, PHP , etc etc

Forums, I use any, but the pHPBB is great, lots of themse ready to go

For anything that is subscription based, I use amember

Finding my next nixhe to market to, Google Trends, and eBay Pulse, buzz.yahoo.com, 50.lycos.com to naema few

For email marketing, I use optionsmedia, a service that handles everything for me.

For SEO, I use a few items, for the quake plugin fro firefox, to (IPB)Internet Business Promoter, which I think is one of the greatest software out there for the price, especially if you new to SEO.

Link building, , SENukes and IPB are great tools, and used along with onlywire and other good social bookmarking tools invalueable.

I guess those are basics, I can go on for hours...
