    Default Thanksgiving Day!!

    Hi guys,

We spend and put more effort on Christmas Day, its a big day for everyone here. We don't have a Thanksgiving Day here in the Philippines.

I heard and saw in movies so many times that a Thanksgiving Day wouldn't be complete without a turkey, right?

So any plans for Thanksgiving? What do you guys usually do and prepare on the table?

I'm from the UK so never celebrated thanksgiving before I met my (american) wife - but since we started dating I've a bonus turkey day every year. It's quite nice actually, kind of like a christmas warm up but with slightly different food.

Since moving to london we tend go to the US over christmas, which means that thanksgiving is spent in the UK. We usually cook a big traditional turkey dinner with some british additions that I've snuck in (namely sausages wrapped in bacon and yorkshire puddings) and have people over - sometimes family sometimes friends.

Last year we had my parents come to london for it which meant having it on the weekend rather than the thursday, much to my wifes annoyance. So we ended up going to a restaurant on the actual day to celebrate - talk about turkey overload!

This year we can't be bothered to cook so we're going to a restaurant with some of our friends. Should be fun - they're serving a warm pumpkin cocktail to start

I live in Costa Rica but we still have Thanksgiving dinner every year at my moms house. My mom is from Michigan so she taught us all about it and we grew up celebrating it. It is definitely a feeding feast, I can hardly move once I'm done eating!

But most important, its a day of being thankful for everything, teaches us not to take anything for granted.

Yes, that sounds fun! I think that Thanksgiving is usually celebrated at home eating home-cooked dinner and turkey but yes, restaurant should be fine and fun! So apart from Christmas Day, what other holidays are celebrated or considered a "big day" in UK?

Yea, sort of like a feeding feast. I mean, I think that its a day of giving back or sharing your blessings to others. Here in the Philippines, we have a specific "Feast Day" for each town. We serve not turkey, but meat/pork
