Support for nofollow links added to signature lines

The GPWA has long allowed members to include links in their signature lines. Unlike many forums, we have never identified the links as being nofollow links. We've understood that most of our members value followed links from the forum from an SEO perspective, and so that is what has been provided.

Recently, however, some webmasters have let us know they would prefer to use nofollow links in their signatures. So I'm pleased to announce it is now possible to include both followed and nofollow links within signature lines.

Links that are to be followed continue to be coded as follows:

The code to specify a nofollow link is siminar, except that URL is replaced with URL.nf as in the following example

Thanks Michael. This is very important step for GPWA community.
I think, that at present days, link factor is not so important, as before.
So, sometimes nofollow links is more safety when dofollow.

I can hardly see safer links than forum links. I mean from moderated vbulletin forum, that has a lot of other useful links.

I've never used PHP before. Can someone provide an example of how to implement this in one's signature? Say I want to make the following my signature.

"Our website, XYZpokerbrand.info is the best place to get [Iwantanowfollowlinkof] "huge poker bonuses" @ my URL [/endnofollowlink] and tons of free candy on Halloween."

Maybe I am not doing this right. To add the nofollow I just went into source mode and made the changes but then it just comes up as text for the whole code.

How exactly do you do this?

Sending you a PM with an example Travis. Let me know if that is what you tried, or if my example works.

One thing I question is the use of keyword link text.

I wonder if links high in keyword value will appear spammy to the engine algo if the links are no-followed.

I wouldn't mind hearing other's thoughts on this.

The code Michael posted at first was slightly different than what BB Code was needed, this has undergone further testing and is working correctly, with the edited and now current code in Michael's first post.

Nofollow links and dofollow links are both essential and should be balance.

As a reminder, any changes you make to your signature will change it site-wide on any posts you dd attach the sig...

Just out of curiosity, any signatures that already exist - are they default to follow or no follow?

By default, they are normal do follow links.

I want to nofollow sig links, I thought they already were like AGD, could you pm me as I do not see any option, tried HTML coding but does not work.. thanks

The code is in the first post. You don't use HTML you use BB Code which is what the forum supports.
