    Default Starting Site Review

    Hey everyone,

I picked up a domain a while ago, put a basic theme & a little content and left it to work on other things. I noticed it started to get indexed. So I've updated the theme, set up new layout, and found the most up-to-date information.

    The site is BestFootballStreamingSites.com

If anyone has some spare time, I'd appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. All feedback is welcome thanks

I know the site is small at the moment, so I'm in the process of slowly building it out.

I'm really interested to know peoples thoughts on long form lists on the homepage? Anyone have experience with these and ranking?

I feel like the list provides what the user wants, but not sure how it looks in terms of google/SEO.

Appreciate your time looking into this

    Cheers guys

The website loads pretty fast. You could consider having a sticky sidebar for your homepage and maybe tidy up the footer links.

Hello CatalinAMG, thanks for taking the time to look & for your feedback. I think a sidebar will be good once I have more pages to list there, so at the moment it just has banners lol. Thanks for pointing out footer links, I'll fix them. I didn't know they pushed so far down. Cheers

Not just a domain seller extraordinaire then!

Opened on mobile while walking the dogs...and first impression was...great work.

Could not fault the home page content. If you wrote it, well done.

So I guess the hope would be to rank the home page, and then try to edge the visitors towards watching (after depositing) at the sportsbooks. Seems to be plenty more you can do to increase authority around the target subject, while increasing the options that might make a return.

When I opened on desktop, it doesn't look so slick. Maybe some more spacing would help (along with fixing the small design type stuff)...but then if you change for desktop maybe that would affect mobile, don't know but maybe something to watch for.

The list...I assume you mean 'latest live football streaming sites'. Yes, I believe you could rank that. Probably needs some work on the h2 (I assume it's an h2, didn't look at code), and either bullet point or table it. Most likely table, but easy to bullet point/unordered list first and see what happens.

Hello Chaumi, haha I started with domains, but more into learning & building sites these days

Thanks for taking the time to open the site while you're out and about. Thank you for your kind words. Yes I wrote all content on the site.

Yes, the idea is to rank the home page mostly. However I have a keyword/topic set to build out relevant category pages to grow the site. I'd love to rank a one page site, but I think those days are gone :P The aim is to provide the most up-to-date list for free & paid streaming services (a directory in a way). So it will take time to grow and add more details relevant to these topics.

Thank you very much for the tips on bullet point/table option. I had them all as h4 which I thought might get confusing SEO wise.

Really appreciate your time & input Chaumi. Thank you

Hope you have a great day

    -------------------------------------------------

Treat those streaming sites like products. Add an image + description providing with information what your visitor can expect when visiting one of these sites.

    1. H2
    2. Image
    3. Description
    4. Pros/Cons
    5. Link

    -------------------------------------------------

Here is what one of the similar sites does:
    Features:

There are not many ads displayed on the website, you can close it with one click.
The website loads much quicker and the stream quality is also decent.
First Row Sports is easy to use and the navigation on this site is smooth as well.
There are several streaming links of various types of sports.

    jihosoft .com/convert-video/best-football-live-streaming-sites.html

It's an old site, but you can beat it with better organized and presented content.

NP, it really is great work on the (home page) content. Which implies you can carry that throughout. Don't know what the competition is like, but on the face of it you would seem to have a great chance of getting somewhere with this.

So h4s for that list. Never done it like that (ie just a plain list all h), but instinct says not the best idea. I could be wrong. That might be better if you were going to add a few lines about each one...so the heading, bit of text, then probably a link (ideally internal, or that'll end up as a lot of external links. Might not hurt, but probably not ideal on balance)

Edit PS I think gm2891 beat me with something similar. 1-0 to gm for today!

Hello Gm2891, Thanks for taking the time to express your opinion. I agree with what you're saying. Add more details to the list, so the visitor is aware of what each one has to offer. That would help with UX I guess. Thanks for that tip The ads are just there as placeholders for now, as I ad more sites, content & reviews, those will be reduced.

Thank you Chaumi, I appreciate the kind words, and look forward to the challenge of building this site. I always see you giving valuable feedback on the forum and it's well appreciated I think I plan to keep the list as h3/4 headers and have small info section & button/link for each one, as GM suggested. Haha yes, you're both on the money today!

    Cheers again guys!

The site was quick to load and it's easy to navigate throughout it. I think you should make your logo bigger than that. I like your drop down menu, you've put a lot of work into it. Also, consider using an arrow that takes the user to the top of any given page. Your site looks good though.

Just a typo to fix, Tallman, from what I can see.

Hey everyone, thanks for all your valuable feedback. I appreciate your time and suggestions!

With the logo size, I've tried using bigger ones, but it has a negative impact on mobile page speed score. Is this common?

I'll have to go through and double check the content, I imagine there's a few typos to fix.

    Cheers

Don't know, have the same problem and never worked out to solve it (other than not having one!)

But I would say don't worry too much. Anyone landing on the page is not there to look at the logo.

So for the home page - they might subconsciously take it in, sure - but the eye will be drawn to (in many instances) why they got there in the first place......watch live games...best... football streaming.

If you got another image into that top section that would further grab their attention (and in the body you can code the image rather than inserting direct, which I'm told is better for speed...I never worked out how to do that for the logo).

All that said, hopefully someone will come up with an idea.

Hi Chaumi, thanks for your input. It's something I'm yet to figure out as well.

It seems images at top of page (like logo) seem to alter the CLS score.

I like the idea of not having one lol. I guess in the bigger picture, it's not essential for the site.

    Cheers

I think the underlying issue is page builders, and the way that the logo is inserted at theme customization level. Technically that does something that I personally don't understand.

Of course, logos are an accepted/expected part of website design...so definitely not a recommendation to not use one.

I don't know if this term is widely known outside of the UK......

    Village idiot

While probably not quite falling into that bracket, I would most definitely be an image idiot. So take anything I say with a pinch of salt (or complete derision, depending on viewpoint). It would suit me if images on webpages were solely there for illustration, and had zero impact in any way on actual page interactions...or how a search engine sees the page. But sadly that's not the case.

    But....

I took mine off 4-5 months ago. There was no drop in rankings (yet, at least), and no discernible impact on how visitors interact with any pages.

But I'm not a brand, and highly likely won't ever be. If I deliver the info someone wants, why tf would they care whether I have a logo. But a brand is sending other signals (or has value in doing so).

Of course, G at some point may treat a logo as some form of contributing EAT factor. I'd be fairly sure it isn't currently.

And something to note (if taking logo off does become a necessity).....

If you have schema on a page, it's possible that somewhere in the code you have a filled in logo field. Anything that's in schema is supposed to (visually) appear on the page that it describes. So you'd want to be consistent. I doubt if it would hurt at this point, but worth considering.

And behind all this.....there is fairly trustworthy evidence that page speed is not currently a ranking factor. So if your logo is not really impacting load speed negatively (from a 'what the visitor experiences perspective', just the tool says it is) then there is some lee-way to play. But bear in mind that the page speed stuff could at any point become more of an issue.

Thanks for all that info Chaumi. It's good to see you didn't lose ranking after removing it. I was hoping that would be the case.

Cheers for the tip about schema, this is one topic I need to learn more about. I've also seen on some other sites that that pagespeed hasn't impacted rankings. I guess google can change at any stage though.

    Thanks again!
