Sports Interaction betting analyst Frank Doyle makes his picks for the US Masters at Augusta.

This is a sea-change Masters in many ways. For the first time since he was Sports Illustrated magazine’s Sportsman of Year before even turning pro, Tiger Woods is not the favorite at a US Masters in which he is competing.

For every year in which he’s competed Tiger has not only been favorite, but favorite at astonishingly short prices ?2/1, 6/4, 6/5. Amazing odds for a golf tournament.

Now, Tiger is just another golfer. Phil Mickelson has passed him the world rankings for the first time in fourteen years, and Tiger is available at 8/1 with Sports Interaction for Augusta. He’s still second favorite, because the public still believes in the man, but he’s not a good bet.

Mickelson, a three time winner at Augusta and a man coming off a thrilling win at the Houston Open last week, is the ante-post favorite and deservedly so. But I’m just not sure if he’s the man to bet on.

Of the last eight majors, only two were won by previous major winners. Both of those were the Masters admittedly, but the successes of Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell suggest that a new generation is here, and one of their number could be the man to be handed the green jacket on Sunday evening.

Of the new generation, Martin Kaymer is a big value bet at 18/1. Kaymer is World No 1, he’s PGA Champion and he’s won already this year. He’s got the game and the mentality for Augusta. 18/1 is a big, big price for a man of that calibre.

Hunter Mahan and Matt Kuchar have been the Mr Consistents of the PGA Tour this year. Kuchar has six of eight top ten finishes, Mahan five of nine. That’s good golf, and they’re both fine each-way prospects at 25/1.

Going deeper in the field for longshots, Rickie Fowler has the game to win a big one and he’s available at 66/1 with Sports Interaction. South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel and Spain’s Alvaro Quiros could still be playing late on Sunday and they’re available at 80/1 with Sports Interaction.

As well as the outright, Sports Interaction offers bets on the first round threeballs, group betting, matchups, big guns, region winner, winning margin and more. Not only that, but Sports Interaction will be betting live all through the four days of Augusta. So if you see someone getting hot around Amen Corner, you can still get on make some money. The Masters is the start of the summer ?best make the most of it.
