Default Skybet changes terms to steal from affiliates

Changes to the Terms and Conditions of the Sky Betting and Gaming Affiliate Program
Following a review of our Affiliate Program we have decided to make some changes. In accordance with our rights under the Terms and Conditions of the Sky Betting and Gaming Affiliate Program, we are amending the Terms and Conditions; the amendments will be effective from 1 November 2015. A copy of the amended Terms and Conditions is linked herefor your reference.
Affiliates agree to be bound by the new Terms and Conditions from 1 November 2015 by remaining a part of the Affiliate Program. If you do not accept the new Terms and Conditions and therefore no longer wish to be a part of the Affiliate Program, you must terminate your Agreement in accordance with clause 13 of the Terms and Conditions.
The main change to the Agreement is contained in the Appendix and concerns the levels of Net Revenue Share payable to Affiliates. This appendix is included below and is applicable to all affiliates and all players within your account.
Net Revenue Share: Months 1-6 from registration date of the Affiliate with the Affiliate Program:
Net Revenue Share Structure: Month 7 onwards from registration date of the Affiliate with the Affiliate Program:
Please note a Depositing Introduced Customer refers to a first time depositor as detailed in your Affiliate Hub reporting.
We understand that this new development will not be welcomed by many of our affiliates. However, it is necessary to safeguard the longevity and health of the programme in what is a rapidly changing area of the betting and gaming industry. With this change, our aim is not to penalise either new or active affiliates, but instead incentivise them to contribute to our targets and reward them fairly for doing so.
We are also keen to minimise any impact the change to the Terms and Conditions may have on you by providing strong foundations to succeed. The Affiliate Hub now offers five core products that are supported by a strong household brand in Sky. We also have unique affiliate tools unavailable anywhere else, such as the free to play Soccer Saturday Super 6 and easy to use iOS app tracking. Finally, and most importantly, we also have a team who are dedicated to helping you secure the results you need.
Bearing all this in mind, please do get in touch via any of the normal methods (including replying to this email) should you wish to discuss your account or future strategies further. Alternatively, we will be attending the Berlin Affiliate Conference if you would like to meet face to face.
    Thanks,

    The Affiliate Hub Team

Just received that mail. It becomes predatory and unfriendly towards new/small affiliates. Didn't expect that from them

If you don't agree with it you are allowed to terminate your agreement! The cheek. What about all the players already referred? Going down to 5% when you have not got 6+ depositors in a month is not what everyone signed up for. This should not be enforced for previously signed up players.

Almost made a mistake of signing up with them. My application is currently being reviewed.

    But I think I'll pass.

    Cheers

Guys is there anything that can be done about this? How is it legal to shave your commissions from your existing customers who signed up to you on the previous terms and conditions?

I am furious with this. SkyBet were always one of the better ones that could be relied upon but that does not seem to be the case.

Yah this came out of the blue tbh, which worries me on what kind of example will set for the other UK brands. Idk seems like you can't trust anything anymore.

Yeah definitely just a way to screw the smaller affiliates. Not impressed at all.

With this change, our aim is not to penalise either new or active affiliates, but instead incentivise them to contribute to our targets and reward them fairly for doing so.

Not much of an incentive is it a poxy 25% that's standard fodder. If its supposed to be a reward why don't they increase the rev share to 50% that may help to promote them more. No more I fear, shame really as I was looking at them being a major player on the site. But as a new affiliate it will be a struggle to bring in one let along 5-6 a month.

SkyBet used to rinse the sign ups. It was easy at one point. However these days it is not easy at all. Many people have SkyBet accounts and they know that a lot of the smaller affiliates are not going to bring in many a month.

Seriously though is there anything that can be done? It just seems to me the previous set of terms and conditions mean nothing.

i know people dont like this, and i dont like it either and have passed my thoughts on to the manager there but believe it or not did it calmly and professionally

just saying that because im sure some have gone blazzing in shouting and swearing etc, just my opinion but if you are going to raise try and do it politely and calmly because Im 99% sure they will remember who kicked off and if you do end up getting caught in this they'll probably wont be as happy to help you out

just my opinion as a I said, and before people get lemon with me about, remember I've already said I spoke to the manager about it

I agree with you but which ever way you go in I do not think is really going to make a difference. I have emailed them but no response as yet.

One thing I will say is that the affiliate department, at least the two guys I have had dealings with, have always been good as gold. This change can not have come from them as they have done so much to build up the program and this is a major backward step. It stabs their baby in the back. Remember, 80% of the company was sold last March (Sky have just 20% now) and perhaps that is why this has happened. I don't see how small affiliates can get off the ground with this new set-up - it is certainly short-sighted. Shame because this was one of the best UK-facing programs, mainly because it was so well run by the affiliate department.

I hardly list them because I prefer brands that accept more countries, this serves as the opposite of an incentive to increase their exposure. Oh well.

never made any money with them I felt this brand was infested by the plague as nobody would sign up for their casino / betting products.

never thought they would do this to their affiliate though.

yeah it has become difficult to trust a program nowadays.

I don't think anyone is placing blame on the managers. We all know they have nothing to do with company decisions and I talked to mine and the reply was what I'm sure the company has made them copy/paste.

I told him I get why they have to defend their employer's decision, but Im sure it's not their personal opinion as they have been always more than nice to me.

I think it will be pretty easy to drop SkyBet from our promotional activities.

They're pretty much a one country destination - and the UK is only about 10-11% of our readership - I can't guarantee 6+ depositors every month (especially in low months) - and I don't work for 5% rev-share.

    Makes an easy decision.

    EDIT :
Have sent in a email reply stating that we don't work for 5% rev-share deals and terminated the SkyBET affiliate relationship.

I note that SkyBet offer to discuss this in person at the Berlin Conference ...
iGB had better make sure that SkyBet have paid up in full for their stand otherwise they might just offer 5% ?

Glad to see some of the medium to larger size affiliates supporting the fact that this is a bad deal....it is this kind of crap that has totally and completely been destroying small affiliates for years....and this trend will continue to increase without the kind of support some are now showing...

I will have to remove them from my site as will loads of other small affiliates. 5% is not really acceptable.

Strange how some of these companies work, they should look how bet365 operates and take note.

I'm pretty sure that everyone realises that these decisions are made by upper management and not the affiliate team.

Good luck to those who continue to promote them. Wonder what the next terms change will be.......................
