Default Peter Eastgate Auctions WSOP Bracelet on eBay

I think this is kinda cool, I hope it raises a lot of money for Unicef:

Peter Eastgate Puts Main Event Bracelet on eBay - cardschat

When I started playing poker for a living, it was never my goal to spend the rest of my life as a professional poker player. My goal was to become financially independent. I achieved that by winning the WSOP Main Event in 2008.

I think the cause is great, but its kind of a slap in the face of the event. After all, this is the most coveted prize in poker and he is just giving it away like it has no meaning to him. Sure, thats his choice as he won it, but I just don't agree with it. He has got the cash, why not just donate that instead.

Yeah to win a bracelet like that is very significant. I certainly would not sell mine when I win one of the events in the future.

What i would of done - is pretend to sell it and whatever it raises on EBAY at the last minute decide not to sell and donate what the bracelet auctioned for, and donate that to the charity.

I am also not sure why anyone would want this - except to possibly flip it later for a higher bid.

If I ever won a WSOP bracelet I don't think I could bring myself to sell it.
But if he does give the money to Unicef, good for him. I sure it will bring in a lot of money.

Here is the link to the auction. No BIN.

Apparently Tony G is one of the people who keeps bidding on it (see here: https://www.partypoker.com/blog/tony-...-my-bling.html)

Perhaps that bracelet might be important for him too but maybe it's more important for her to raise funds for the Unicef. Maybe that's his way of extending his help to other people. Maybe he had already achieved his goal and he no longer need that bracelet. Well, that's how great life is.

Any idea if they've released info on the buyer?

I remember seeing a ton of articles about Tony G putting in bids for the bracelet because he wants it as a custom collar for his dog ....

Maybe helping the lee fortunate for Peter Eastgate is more important than that WSOP Bracelet. Bravo for Peter Eastgate. Keep up the good work.

I dont think this one is going to charity. May not even be in the hands of the orginal winner anymore.
