I tipped Chelsea to win the Premier League last season, and if they had a striker who could have given them 20+ goals then I think that they would have won it pretty comfortably.

With the signing of Diego Costa, they have addressed that glaring problem, so I take them for the title once again.

Didier Drogba returning and the arrival of Cesc Fabregas will also give them more firepower and potency in the attacking third ?Drogba is a question mark because of his age but he is a legend at Chelsea, and you wouldn’t bet against him making an impact once again ?but it is Costa that is surely Mourinho’s key summer acquisition.

Chelsea isn’t the easiest place to score goals, as the likes of top-class strikers Shevchenko and Torres have found down the years, but what gives me confidence that Costa can deliver is that he has done it with a similar team in Atletico Madrid.

Atletico don’t blitz teams in the manner that Real Madrid and Barcelona regularly do in La Liga, and Costa got the job done playing up front on his own a lot of the time, and I imagine that it will be a similar story for him at Stamford Bridge. It’s a style of play that won’t faze him.

We will come to their opening match at Burnley later on, but the first ?0 million Colossus of the new season starts with Leicester v Everton.

Leicester ran away with the Championship last season and they haven’t made big changes in the summer, which can often be a big plus with promoted teams. They have grown together and have a strong core of ex-Man Utd players that is serving them well.

But I think Everton could just shade a tight match 2-1. They haven’t had the best of pre-seasons but in signing Lukaku and Barry permanently they have done good business, and I am expecting more of the same from them this season, finishing just outside the top 5.

This won’t be an easy fixture though, so I am adding in 1-0 Everton and 1-1, too.
