Post Marketing DOs and DON’Ts at bet-at-home.com Affiliates

    Hi,

As we regularly receive questions concerning where advertisements for bet-at-home.com can be placed and what we would like to avoid, we have a newsletter for you today addressing these queries.

The following passage from our General Terms and Conditions is important for this newsletter and we would like to consider it in more detail:

The Affiliate Partner may not place marketing material on websites or other media whose content infringes the intellectual property of third parties or facilitates such an infringement.
In affiliate marketing, the end-to-end supply chain is often very long. This can lead to control over the placing of content being lost to some extent. Traffic can be purchased from various networks (including blind networks). Some of these value-added chains do not consider the integrity of advertising spaces to be a top priority, which can result in illegal websites receiving financial support online.

These illegal websites commit copyright violations and make content, the intellectual property of which is property of another individual or group, available without permission. In addition to these websites receiving financial support, brands are also damaged through this process. To avoid this, we would like to provide you with some interesting information to take away with you today.

The UK Gambling Commission and the Internet Advertising Bureau UK are particularly focussed on this issue and make regular reference to it in various reports and investigations. They also have some tips as to how advertisers should operate in the UK:

    • It is recommended that traffic is only purchased from partners which offer complete transparency and control
    • Advertisers should be clear on which websites are illegal and prohibited
    • Illegal websites should be avoided and can be checked against the IWL (Infringing Website List), which the PIPCU (the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit, a specialist unit within the City of London Police) makes available for businesses upon request. Access to the IWL can be requested here: https://iabuk.net/policy/briefings/t...bsite-list-iwl
    • Collaborating with companies which have been verified by the DTSG (Digital Trading Standards Group) is recommended. You can find a list of these companies here: https://jicwebs.org/agreed-principles...tsgsignatories

This issue is becoming more important, and not just in the UK. Companies and authorities in many other countries are striving to ensure brand security in online advertising. We would also like to point out once again that all affiliates are obliged to follow the regulations of the UK Gambling Commission if advertising for bet-at-home.com in the UK. Violating these regulations is not just a breach of contract with bet-at-home.com, but will also result in the competent authorities in the UK taking legal action accordingly.
