Macau considers casino junket credit ban
In an effort to further restrict their operations in Macau, the local government has put forward a proposal to prohibit licensed junket operators from providing credit to gamblers at local casinos. This new proposal, aimed at replacing the existing system where both junkets and casino concessionaires can extend credit, represents a notable shift in Macau's gambling regulation.
Restricting Junket Activities
Under the regulatory framework established in January 2023, junkets were permitted to offer credit to high-value players, a key demographic in Macau's gambling sector. The government's new proposal indicates an intention to tighten control over the issuance of credit and possibly diminish the role of junkets in the gambling industry.
