Question How many different languages do you speak?

Over the years a few polls have been posted about foreign language content on portal sites:

17 October 2012: Do you provide content on your sites only in English or in other languages?

1 February 2017: How many different languages do your sites support?

4 August 2021: What languages do you use for content on your websites?

But we've never had a poll about languages actually spoken by GPWA Members.

So, for this week's poll, I ask how many different languages you speak.

Besides voting in the poll, I invite you to share what those languages are, how you went about learning them, and how fluent you are in each of the languages you do speak. And then, to tie the question back to earlier polls, share which of those languages you use in creating content for your websites.

    I speak three languages:
    • Spanish, my native language.
    • English, which I started learning in school and improved through work and travel (though I still have much to improve).
    • Portuguese, as I was spoken to in Portuguese a lot when I was young, and I find it somewhat similar to Spanish.

Currently, I create content for my websites only in English, although in the beginning, I did so in Spanish. Nowadays, I occasionally write for a client in Spanish or Portuguese, but it's not very common.

My native tongue is Arabic. Although I can't read or write it, I'm quite fluent with it and I don't have any trouble understanding the language.

Unfortunately one, English. Living in Montreal I have limited French but just enough to get by and not really have a conversation. English is widely spoken in Montreal so not as easy to practice. I did speak some Portuguese when I lived in São Paulo but that has virtually disappeared.
