How effective are Facebook Ads?

FB adds are not effective. They can bring you traffic (depending on how you advertise), but they will not convert.

I've ran a couple. Made my money back initially but too early to tell if it will reap great benefits

It's not effective at all. And the #1 factor would be not because people go to interact with friends, or demography, but because people lie about their location and age in the profiles. I got so many clicks and view by kids that lied about location and age, that I canceled it after 20 days.

What kind of budget did you invest?

And how did you start your advertation? By the wizard for advertentions on the facebook website?

I got a mail that I had to invest at least 50k!
