Hey all, just wondering if anyone can recommend if there is a plugin where it can automatically detect a location on a visitor to the website. Where it will display if there country can play at a specific casino. I see it on many websites where it shows the country flag as being able to play or not play and just wondering what everyone is using to do that.

If you just want to target adverts, you can use the premium version of advanced ads.

I tried Geo Controller. Not a bad plug-in, but it has some problems.
I personally don't use such plugins, I don't rule it out in the future. In the review and in the table I have included the section "Country restrictions".

I have looked for several solutions, however, they are too elaborate and I am only interested in one function such as the author of the topic is asking about.

Fact I have not tried Geotargeting WP, which you recommend. There is no free version. I have not found an exact description of this type of function.
So I wanted to make sure. Is it easy to do something like this with Geotargeting WP? Without dozens of hours of work?

Geotargeting WP has one major advantage and that is it plays well with cache. The last thing you'd want is the next visitor to see what the previous visitor had cached. And yeah dannyx it does everything the op asked for and more without that much work. I don't know if there's a cheaper version out there but Geotargeting WP has been tested by many, and like I've said has no cache issues.

The only thing that bothers me with geotargeting is in an age of digital nomads left and right, your country of residence may not be the country where your passport is from, or you are just travelling and visiting a country.

VPN? If you are tech savvy enough to use a VPN, you would be tech savvy enough to find your way towards a casino that does support your country.

There's that thing about IPs as well, some close border IPs show up as US when they are Canadian, that's another thing that worries me.

Well, that's what worries me too, especially since much of my traffic is based on people with VPNs from blocked locations.

On top of that, a lot of VPN goes through, for example, France, where hardly anyone accepts France.

Another problem could be that a confused player might give not real registration data only that of the VPN as to the country, and that won't go through.

All in all, to think whether it is worth....

Test some plugins to see which is best.

I have learned you can look at other wordpress sites and view source code to see which plugins they have installed to see if they have geo targeting ones.

See if you can find one that uses the likes of aws or cloudlfare etc to identify the visitors country or you will have no end of headaches whenm using with a cache
