„This one was for you??EURO 2016!

We all know it ?everything is possible, particularly in Sports ?however, not many had a right nose for what happened yesterday. Nearly nobody did expect Portugal to be the winning team of the EURO 2016 in France.

With only just “surviving?the group stage and with having won only one game within the regular time of 90 minutes the team around Cristiano Ronaldo made history yesterday. They had beaten the team of France ?“Les Bleus??with a golden goal worth watching of back-up striker Éder in minute 109.



Unfortunately Portugal’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo had to give up after some 20 minutes due to an injury which resulted from an unpunished foul play from France’s Dimitri Payet. Nevertheless the Portuguese team did not give up and demonstrated a competitive spirit. With pooled forces they fought their way into the overtime ?after 6 draws during the whole EURO they already knew how it feels like to neither be a winner nor a loser after 90 minutes. With the golden goal in minute 109 Portugal ruined the dream of the team around Antoine Griezmann of winning the championship in their home country.


Concluding, it can be said that every 12 years something unexpected is happening in a EURO ?1992 Denmark won the championship, 2004 it was Greece’s turn and now in 2016 Portugal made it to the top. Let’s wait and see ?maybe in 2028 the vikings from Iceland will make the impossible possible.

Of course not only France and Portugal did play well during the EURO, there had also been other teams. In order to “honor?those players who had been over-performers during the championship we made up our “dream team?of the EURO2016.

Defense: Andrea Barzagli (Italien), Jerome Boateng (Deutschland), Pepe (Portugal), Raphael Guerreiro (Portugal)
Midfield: Aaron Ramsey (Wales), Mesut Özil (Deutschland), Dimitri Payet (Frankreich)
Offense: Antoine Griezmann (Frankreich), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Gareth Bale (Wales)

Last but not least something to chuckle about:
The real superstar of yesterday’s finale was an unexpected one. It was a moth ?yes exactly, a moth! When Cristiano Ronaldo was sitting on the field with having tears in his eyes after his severe injury this little moth came to sit on his nose and instantly got famous.
