    Default Creative Marketing Ideas

The marketing channels you always hear about involve advertising or giving away prizes on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Adwords is the other big player in the market. Excluding these which have been well discussed on this forum what are alternative ideas?

Writing articles for your specific industry that other websites will publish with a link to your website tends to get a lot of traffic but it can be difficult to find such websites if anybody could recommend some that would be great.

    For a sports/gambling affiliate:

    1. What are the most creative marketing methods you have seen to advertise an affiliate website?
    2. What do you actually think first time visitors to your affiliate website want to see apart from a banner with $200 sign up here?

I am in the sports betting category and two of the best I have seen so far that take different approaches are flashscore.com and olbg.com which had an annual turnover of over ?.3m in their last financial year.

What is different or creative about flashscore.com in your opinion ?
I didn't know about it and just loaded it up - it looks like every other live score site I know.

They allow you to rank your favorite leagues, have a section just for your chosen matches, show the odds from a wide range of bookmakers, report the score extremely fast, give you an image of the lineups, have a live commentary, and have a few other sports such as tennis and basketball but I don't use those. In a nutshell they allow me to group all the individual games from any sport they cover into one page and they are very smart about how the market their affiliates... I won't use websites that have 10+ banners flashing at me as it distracts me from the purpose of my visit.

They also allow you to embed their service into your website very easily.
