What's the crypto betting scene like in india? Crypto in general seems to be pretty popular there, as does betting. So...

I usually don't share this but anyways whatever.

India and for the better part China are MASSIVE markets. I would imagine both would have similar structure, in terms of what works and what doesn't.

Indian betting market is divided into two types.

Ones that only look for Betfair clones, where they can play both side of the trade. This "majority" is of low value. They are hardly literate. Most live in the villages or very small towns. Word of mouth works here. This is where betting IDs come into play.

The market is massive, but they want locals to handle deposits and withdrawals and create accounts for them. Tens of millions of people bet the markets this way, which why Betfair was forced to shut down its operations in the country in 2019.

The deposit value of such players is usually only between $20 to $100. BUT, this market can grow, because poor people need quick money. Betfair Lay/Bet gives them that ability.

Now comes the "minority" (which is still in hundreds of thousands) Indians, who know what Bet365, or BetOnline is. They don't need any hand holding, are usually educated businessmen or high-end executives, software engineers and so on. This class usually plays the Live Casino markets and sometimes does cricket and horse betting.

Betwinner, Parimatch, Betwinner etc., target this class of gamblers in India, and it's completely different from Betfair-clone model, which is geared towards people uneducated labor-class backgrounds.

REAL money is in the Betfair clone class, but it WILL put your name of the Police lookout circulars within India.

Don't fly to India, if you end up running a Betting ID / Betfair-clone, and be prepared to be stopped at the International Airports, if the Indian Enforcement Directorate wants your ass.

so if you promote 22bet or 1xbet to an Indian audience (but in English), you're doing something illegal?

It's illegal but I personally believe legalization is coming to India soon. Then 100% of the profits would head towards large conglomerates that will open online gaming shops.

It's coming. Good times for black gambling market in India are numbered.

Since all coutries (lead by USA) started to claim online jurisdiction this question makes no sense anymore. So many things are illegal at least somewhere (burning holy books, calling war a war, underage brides, animal cruelty laws, intellectual property crimes etc) and countries nowadays silently do not respect territoriality.

Also is everything more blurred. What is legal and what is not is not known; it is a business for lawyers.

Certain legal things are prohibited by out-of-law ways, e.g. restriction of money flows that depend on random clerks in banks or on politicians; but certainly not on court.

Other illegal things are allowed. For example stealing billions from affiliates. Because the law is failing and costs of courts are prohibitive for anyone but corporation.

It is not important whether you do something illegal. Like in any totalitarian society, you should know whether you do something that is not tolerated in countries of your bubble. Then rule nr1. is not to cross anything against the country where you live in, do not **** off USA and better not to **** off countries where you are a citizen of [just to have a place to return when you **** off everyone else].

So for example if you live or do business in Russia or North Korea, your online freedom is greater than in USA (if you do not **** off their totality). Long time ago I moved my email server to Russia.

    There are those options:

    1. You visit India and you get arrested. You are criminal.
    2. You do not visit India and you are not arrested. You do not know.
    3. You visit India and you are not arrested. You still do not know.

But since it is India and not USA, there is not the 4th option:
    4. You do not visit India and you get arrested elswhere and deported to India.
Like Kim dot com or this guy: https://torrentfreak.com/alleged-kic...-rules-161002/ were having troubles.

You can promote whoever you want.

The Indian police is specifically looking out for the Ring Leaders (owners) of Betfair clones, who for the better part live in Dubai, Paris, and London. And in 99.99% cases are Indians.

Plus the lookout circulars are localized for each province (State), unless the Indian Enforcement Directorate (ED) is involved with the Indian CBI (which is like the FBI).

My post was aimed at people wanting to collaborate with local agents in India to start a Curacao-licensed Betfair clone.

https://g2g.news/ is an excellent source of getting news about police raids and activity on Betfair-clone operations in India.
