Default Bet365 not currently accepting new affiliates

I contacted Bet365 by email today inquiring about becoming an affiliate and they told me they are not currently accepting new affiliates.

I also asked them if there would be an issue with promoting bonus hunting on my website with the customer losing money to the bookmakers which they recoup plus some profit on the exchanges. They told me this is not allowed but I have seen a good few websites who only promote this style of betting and they are a Bet365 affiliate. Any advice on this as it is a big draw for some customers and good ultimately for the bookmaker.

Given that they haven't yet been able to vet all their existing affiliates for compliance, I imagine it's just a temporary hold on new affiliates until they catch up. I really don't think they're trying to get rid of all affiliates.

I couldn't agree more with you on this subject. I really don't think that they are trying to get rid of all affiliates.

Can a Bet365 affiliate manager confirm this?

We are not accepting new affiliate applications at the moment because our primary focus is achieving full compliance within the existing database.

    Thanks

    Thanks for answering James.

    You may be able to help me on two points;

What are the full requirements your affiliates have to meet currently? Are these criteria set down by the UK Gambling Commission?

Secondly, why don't you allow affiliates to promote your book in such a way that the customer will lose their initial deposit to your company yet profit overall by laying the bet on the exchanges?

It's this kind of mindset that set the wheels in motion for this clampdown we're currently in the midst of. Genuine webmasters who work hard on high quality content creation are now locked out for weeks on end because of "tipsters" with their bullshit, get rich quick style promotions.

100% agree. This kind of promotion is the thing causing the current problems. Everyone should remember the real business of a gambling company is to provide entertainment at a cost which is reasonable to the individual. Note the word cost. It's the old thing about someone walking into a casino with $100 and walking out with $90.

    Excuse.

I am talking to people who bet for over 10 years and no one from them thinks he is buying entertainment. They all want to make money. And they lose of course.

I'm a bit confused as to the problems that bonus hunting is having on the affiliate business and would appreciate it if someone could elaborate a bit more.

My point of view is this regarding promoting bonus hunting on a tipster website.

    * Player deposits with bookmaker X and gets a deposit bonus.
    * They lose their bet on bookmaker website but have laid the bet off on the exchanges for an overall profit.

The bookmaker makes a profit, the player makes a profit, the affiliate makes a profit.

The player now has more money with which to bet which may increase the bookmakers profit and the affiliates profit.

Where is the problem with this approach?

    -----------------------------------------------

Can you direct me to an article that clearly lays out the "current issues being faced by affiliates?"

Think about it if you were the bookmaker.
Do you want a customer who is a 'simple customer' who just wants to join the bookie so he can place bets on his favourite sports and who is probably goinbg to do that each week or month for however long he is interested.

Or do you want a guy who has only joined to use the bonus offer as leverage to be able to lay off the difference on an exchange and then he's gona leave once he's done X amount of bets and exhausted the bonus and got his amount of money that he wants. Nobody wants that type of customer profile, they present a risk to the bookie.

    The issue is that they:
    - either not lose on bookmaker website because they are betting on arb where the bookie side is the slow side, where the value is, so the bet there is EV+
    - or they lose on bookies side but the loss is more than covered from the bonus

Either way the bonushunter is having surplus at the bookie. And bookies (and affiliates) want only players that do not have surplus. Actually they want players producing bigger than small minus, because there are costs associated with each player.

The most effective way for the player to profit is for the player to lose their initial deposit and bonus to the bookmaker and win 95% to 100% of the total amount back on the exchanges assuming the bookmaker offers a 100% matched bonus they get access to after turning over their initial deposit once similar to the signup off that Bet365 have.

I understand those points but I would continue to provide the player with tips and now that they have an account with the bookmaker they will be more likely to place the bet with that bookmaker if I recommend that they place the bet there due to the bookmaker having the best odds for that bet.

In the majority of cases I expect the players to place their own bets also.

I think there is more upside for the bookmaker to allow this approach that restrict affiliates from doing it as its very difficult to get recreational bettors to switch bookmakers.

Bettors who bet those bets are not recreational bettors. And it makes sense that bookies do not want them. Affiliates who promote those unwanted bettors are certainly having shot on affiliate programs.

I do not want to offense you, but I think you do not understand what are odds, what is probability and what are value odds. The value odds are on the side of the bookie that do not want those players, so not 100%, not 95% and not even 50% of bets are won on the magic exchange. The bets are won on the side of the bookmaker. It is actually not hard to beat the bookmaker this way.

You can keep promoting whoever you want but it has 100% sense that affiliate programs of casual bookies do not want you, so do not be surprised. Also recommending those players kills no-carryover policy, which in the end harms all affiliates.
