Question Are affiliate managers necessary in our industry?

Are affiliate managers in the industry is necessary?

I get idea to create this poll after today's message in GPWA Bet365 private forum.

Summary: Bet365 affiliate manager requires from affiliate to change all unique bet365 reviews on affiliate site to non-unique Bet365 promotional texts.

Probably not and "AM" idea!? They are just the connector between compliance departments and us - i guess not the most grateful task from time to time.

And yes - a AM who is responsive and educated and who knows what his job is and what not, is necessary from time to time.

    I don't understand your question.

So situation around bet365. Where they are? Responsive and educated? This is very simple situation.
UKGC have guidelines with basic principles of gambling advertising. Very clear document. I am, non-english speaker understand it.

And i don't understand how is possible to interpret this document as "remove unique reviews, put only our promotional text". Only in one case - if you don't readed it. I understand this is very simple way for affiliate manager. Change unique review to non-unique and bring to as more players...

I don't say anything about SEO. We all here understand, what happens if all affiliates start using non-unique reviews. This is buisness suicide. But this is advice from affiliate manager!!!

I see, but you canīt blame it on all affiliate managers. Its a request by Bet365.
Fortunately i decided year ago to stay away from UK market and jumped into unregulated small emerging markets.
And for sure i try to avoid "over-regulated" operators with 3 or 4 licenses.
Iīm not willing to build my business matching hundreds of requirements of xxx operators which would be a tough call without my own compliance department.

But back on topic - yes, that is maybe an advice from your affiliate manager but not his own idea. Btw ... i donīt like the wording "affiliate manager" its misleading and should be under review by UKGC

I've had good aff managers and bad ones, a good one can be a real asset, a bad one can be a real pain. So it's not really a yes/no answer.

Some affiliate managers are hopeless and others are brilliant, so again, it's not really a yes and no.
With the Bet365 reviews, I expect they have 1000's (10,000's?) of reviews out there and can't possibly check them all, so this is an easy way for them to insure they all comply. I bet the big affiliates will be able to keep their unique reviews up.

No this is not my aff.manager. I read about this situation here in Private Bet365 forum. This is the problem of another affiliate. But then i read this....

My personal point of view. If aff.manager don't have ideas - he must go to hell, out from gambling business. Where is are lot more quiet jobs in our world. Gambling business is only for peoples with ideas.

I sure that Bet365 as company want to check them all. And 100% they want to save relationship with affiliates. I think some people who work in Bet365 don't want to check them all. And choosed this simple way.

They are very important because if you have an issue that you need to address, then you need to know that there is someone that you can contact, and that you're not just sending a message through a general support form that might be or might not be read.

I agree, there are really really bad ones out there, would love to name them at some point. But other than those really bad ones, they are totally necessary to have a healthy affiliate - casino relationship.

i know some very good affiliate managers that helps you make money
i know some very bad affiliate managers that don't even answer when a site is down
i know some very bad affiliates that do whatever they want and they cry like babys when they get in troubles
i know some very good affiliates that listen to their affiliate manegers or know how to do their job
i am afraid, very soon, the industry won't need AFFILIATES anymore. All now is media cause they don't push it more than what they have to.
if the affiliate manager position goes extinct will be just after we went extinct

Affiliate Managers are very important. Without a doubt. If there are any affiliate related issues, they are the people who are responsible to look after us affiliates. I mean, I can't see who else will do it.

With so much consolidation amongst affiliates and the niche maturing I feel that companies will start working with X number of affiliate partners. If you have 5 partners generating 80% of affiliate revenue then there is an opportunity to focus alot more attention on these rather than dealing with 100 other affiliates delivering only 20% of the bacon.

There will always be a need for relationship managers but I do feel given the above we will start seeing more competent AM's remain and the classic affiliate manager with a black book of contacts slowly die out.

What about the wording "account manager"?

Yes, this comment makes the most sense.

But then newer brands entering the betting markets will always want to have all types of affiliates, because the rock solid ones will not promote newbie betting exchanges either.

Every business is legally free to do whatever it likes.

Of course they are necessary. Otherwise, who would we get free drinks from at the affiliate conferences?

This poll is an insult to the hundreds of hard working affiliate managers in this industry.

I can't believe the moderator let it through.

I think it's important to have a manager. It's difficult to communicate without a manager, there are always delays,
    unread messages and others.
For UK promotions, I think many affiliations will lose affiliates.
