    Default Affiliate link blocker

Excuse my naivety, I have just noticed my ad blocker (mozilla) can actually block the outgoing affiliate links.

Is there any advice / solutions to this or is it just a fact of life that people with ad blocking software won't be able to get the redirect??

Fact of life, you need to use ads which aren't getting blocked by ad blocker.

Ah bugger, well I can't change the aff link and its physically blocking the redirect so I suppose there is not much that can be done.

    Thanks anyway though Dan

I've never used adblocker so don't really know anything about it. Is it all aff links or just ones from certain programs?

And is there any kind of connection (eg: same affiliate software - if you list the ones that are being blocked we can tell you the software).

And does it happen on both of your sites?

If it's aff links, perhaps you could try doing a redirect through your website URL.

    For example, example.com/go/programname

Sometimes the ad blockers will block external links so if you're sending it through your own site it may get through.

Its not all the aff links and it does happen on both of my current sites. For example Bet365 are always blocked.
Every aff program using Netrefer are blocked.

    Interesting (and worrying).

You're using 301's for that (I know because I helped you set them up), do me a favour - can you check the Bet365 link on this site to see if it gets blocked. It uses a different method of cloaking.

    Interesting and worrying indeed.

I installed Adblock Plus 2.6.10 for Firefox, clicked the Bet365 link on that site, and it got stuck, I got a blank page that says /goto/bet365.php in the URL.

Most adblockers will block the URL entirely, so even if you redirect using php or some other method to the bet365 link the adblocker will step in and close the window.
I've installed a plugin to track how many people use adblocker on my site and it's showing around 20% which is rather disturbing!

See below and click the links in the right column, e.g. /link/Bet365 or /link/Betfair/
    https://www.betinsight.co.uk/betting-...etting-preview

    All work despite AdBlock.

Also, on the main page https://www.betinsight.co.uk/ you can see the Pinnacle ad on the left disappeared, but the JPG images on the right are still there. And they work. Even those that use Netrefer, such as Betfair.

So what exactly is the problem with the OnlineCasinoDirectory.co.uk site and Mattbar's site? What's different there? Let's get to the bottom of this.

Perhaps we need to see what the brands being blocked are doing on their end?
Is there something they have in common that we can pinpoint?

Maybe you guys could list all the links that are getting blocked and we can all see if there's something we can find. Maybe we can then find a solution.

Interesting, both use a 301 redirect. Would be very interested to see how he gets around this.

The logo images are served locally so that's the only way I can find to get around adblocker.

Mine work when they appear self-hosted like Renee mentioned above. I would assume if a given brand, has been "bad" they might indeed by "Blacklisted". What is the site we are talking about, Im curious to check.

P.S the ones in your profile show fine for me, with adblock on. Check them twice with off and on, didnt see any links re-appear or disappear.

Matt, give us the URL of the page where the ads are located and the full code in your /go file.

Baldidiot I tried two links on the page you listed BetFred and Bet365 and arrived at the sites properly. I am sure bet365 had the aff tag as I could see it in the url.

Like Dan though, the bet365 link did give me a blank page the first click but not the second....not sure why adblock does NOT block the domain as far as I know, if it did I should not have been able to visit on the second click and I never disable it when I visit the site any other time.

I use adblocker, but not the plus version.

Now, if anyone uses the standard code and flash banners from bet365, the banners will not even show if adblock is enabled.

As part of my regular site visits when prepping private applications I find I very often have to disable adblock since many people use a lot of flash ads that will NOT show if enabled.

Interesting though that many of us got a black page on first attempt at bet365.....
