Wordpress Issue - Can't edit html

I'm having a strange issue with wordpress this morning. I can't click the 'text' button next to 'visual' to edit the html of any of my pages. I've tried relogging, different browsers and restarting my pc but it keeps happening.

The Yoast SEO plugin box also appears blank and nothing can be added to it.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any idea on how to fix it?

ah, now this is interesting, i have the same problem with one of my sites but the other way round, the Visual button doesn't work. I've made sure the edit in visual button is clicked and everything

no idea but it's a pain in the arse

Are you using the most recent version of wordpress? There was an update to the CMS yesterday.

Sounds like a conflict with a plugin, it's usually the cause of most problems..

mines been like it for ages. tried most things. nothing has worked

At least it's not only me experiencing this then... It's a real pain as I was looking at adding new content but can't do that without access to the html.

My wordpress did just update so I'm assuming that would be the cause. I've not installed any new plugins since it was last working.

just did the wordpress update.
I see no issues. Not the ones you mentioned.
I am looking on Chrome, haven't tried it at Firefox yet.
Never use firefox for my casino projects.

You should deactivate all your plug-ins regardless of the fact that you have not installed any new ones. It could be an updated plugin causing the havoc.

I agree with daftdog, make a backup of site and database.

Then disable all plugins and re-enable them one at a time and keep checking between each step.

It's also a good dea to clear cache or at least close and reopen browser sessions between each step.

If you are using a cache plugin, keep that disabled during the entire process. (otherwise, you could potentially make a change and see a cached version previous to a change)

Hmmm that is interesting.

I am guessing you may have already tried this, but just in case you haven't, you should try logging in with a different computer and seeing if the same thing happens.

If so it is most likely a conflict with a plugin, or the setting and removing of the edit in visual flag is not being seen correctly.

I wonder if you remove that flag, restart the site and then change it back again if that could possibly help.

You could also change to a different theme for a few minutes and then check to see if it is theme related.

I´ve got the same problem, cannot switch to Visual. In fact I can, but I see just a blank post. I moved my site to staging version, tried to disable all plugins and such stuff. Even the employers of my hosting provider tried to solve it, but no success. I was told, that it probably will be a matter of theme I am using. I think, that it´s correct, coz on my other websites I use newer theme versions and never came along such problem. I know, that I just need to upgrade old theme, but there were so many things manually changed, that it would be work for few days, and somehow cannot kick myself to it, I even learned a bit more of HTML with this issue
